The glow crystal spell is still in effect and has spread throughout Mist World. Glow crystals come in many sizes and colors and tend to grow in patches or veins. One of the epic wizards, who escaped underground with the refugees following the Quenest War, used an epic spell to create the first edible mushrooms. These mushrooms then propagated and spread throughout the Deep Caves. They were originally created to provide a food source for humanoids, but many creatures now eat them. Edible mushrooms feed directly from the cycle of magic and need only shallow soil or cracks in the stone upon which to anchor themselves and grow.
