Flexilbleem's Aquarium Sphere
These are large glass spheres, created by the legendary wizard Flexilbleem the Fantastic. They are water (usually saltwater) aquariums full of fish and water plants. The aquarium spheres are enhanced with magic that continually aerates the water and provides nourishment to the fish and aquatic creatures inside. The interior is usually illuminated by glow crystals of various colors. The glass is strengthened with permanent force magic (a sphere shaped adaptation of wall of force spell). The aquariums rest on a stand made of stone, metal or wood or are part of a statue feature.
The aquarium spheres come in various large sizes: large (5 to 10 feet diameter), huge (15 to 20 feet diameter), gigantic (20 to 30 feet in diameter), and colossal (30 feet in diameter or more). They often feature colorful sand and pebbles, and water plants and an array of harmless fish. Sometimes there are features such as sunken ruins (broken pillars), a ship wreck, a cave, or a chest of treasure. With the smaller aquariums, these features are often miniatures. The larger aquariums may exhibit full sized objects. Sometimes streams of bubbles issue forth from the objects in the aquarium.
The interior of the aquarium can often be accessed via a circular opening at its top. This opening will vary in size depending on the size of the aquarium, but usually allow a medium sized person to reach (or climb) into the sphere if so desired. Sometimes a hinged iron gate, which is perhaps locked, is closed over this opening. Larger spheres often have an attached ladder or stair leading from the floor to the top of the aquarium sphere.
Shattering the sphere (via magic that dispels or breaks the force wall and then shattering the glass) will cause the water inside the sphere to explode outward, flooding the outside environment. Shattering a gigantic or colossal aquarium sphere will result in a wall of water that flows outward from the sphere. Medium or smaller creatures standing within twenty feet of the sphere will be knocked prone and swept away (2d6 points damage) unless succeeding in a DC20 strength check.
